Geronimo ISD RenderingTwo More Dome Schools for Oklahoma

by Carol Lanham
June 25, 2008

Oklahoma is home to more Monolithic Dome schools than any other state in the nation. Given the state’s location in the center of tornado alley, that makes sense. Soon, Oklahoma will have two more dome schools. Dibble Public Schools, near Norman, and Geronimo School District, outside of Lawton, both have new educational structures under construction.

In Dibble, the new middle school will consist of two Monolithic Domes -- one for classrooms and offices, and the second for use as a gymnasium. In Geronimo, school officials opted to go with five modular Monolithic Domes or pods. It will be the first school in the nation to adopt the concept of modular dome buildings. Not surprisingly, the two Oklahoma school districts are making news.
